Our Massage Team

Ivy Bjornson

I am an experienced Massage Therapist with an active WA state license since 2010. I have extensive experience working with athletes, including the United States Women’s National soccer team and the dancers for the Pacific Northwest Ballet.

Much of my career I worked with ‘athletes of life’ in many stages of their development at the Seattle Athletic Club and a local chiropractor clinic. I recently returned to Bellingham, where I graduated from Whatcom Community College.

Words to describe my philosophy are Trigger "Point Thai" and "Individualization."

Through the yoga-like movement in Thai Massage, imbalances, inflexibilities, and sticking points become clear. With a mix of Thai, trigger point release, and deep tissue sports massage, I can help you improve flexibility, range of motion, and circulation and work out those new or long-standing pain points.

I provide Thai yoga massage. Thai style combines the practices and benefits of both yoga and massage.

It tends to fill the gaps between other therapies. Instead of a table, we work together on a cushy floor pad, incorporating more dynamic movement. Just as yoga works with the bodymind to effect change, so does Thai. Thai is very supportive in allowing the body to open up and recruit its own abilities as an ally in healing.

My work is influenced by the tensegrity theory of fascia and muscle in the body. Everything is interconnected and while focusing on one spot can be great, I believe targeting the areas above and below is also crucial to the body’s health and performance.

I love hearing how clients’ aches and pains seem to just melt away and that they feel confident in carrying on in their daily lives and achieving their health/performance goals.

Treatment massage is not a traditional spa massage. Most people think of massage as an indulgence and a treat. While I do my best to make treatment relaxing, my goal is to get to the root of the problem and leave you with results you’ll continue to feel over the next several days.
