Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get asked at Prime.
If you have a question that’s not listed here, we’d love to get it answered for you. Please feel free to give us a call or contact us and ask, anytime.
Q: Does Prime accept my insurance?
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Our Physical Therapists at Prime accept insurance. Confirm your coverage through Precision Physical Therapy or Momenta PT.
MASSAGE THERAPY
Call your insurance company to ask “what are my out of network massage therapy benefits?” It’s usually a quick call to the number on the back of your card. Many times they may reimburse you for all or some of your massage sessions, especially if you have a PPO (instead of an HMO). For massage therapy, Prime is an out of network provider, meaning we do not directly accept insurance. However, we’ll give you all the information you need to get reimbursed.
Insurance can limit your treatment and impact your outcome. Your symptoms may be different from the origin of your injury. Traditional insurance coverage focuses on a specific area based on your referral which may not allow us to get to the root of your problem. Prime does accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards through Square.
Our massage team will take the time to read through your health history before your session, perform a thorough assessment, check your range of motion and then provide treatment massage based on what they find.
After your session, you can expect to get a recommendation of when to follow up (if that’s needed) and learn stretches, foam rolling or exercises to help you maintain the results from your session as long as possible.
ATHLETIC TRAINING / INJURY EVALUATIONS
Prime accepts Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards through Square. The traditional insurance model does not reimburse for athletic training.
Prime clients typically need fewer visits and spend less than the traditional PT practice. Our approach is to spend more time with you one-on-one to get to the root of your injury.
Many PT clinics schedule to see you 3x a week with many other patients at the same time. You can actually save time and money at Prime when you consider having to pay your deductible, plus co-pay, and extra visits which may be required.
Q: How does Athletic Training differ from Physical Therapy?
Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists play different roles in your healthcare. Our services sometimes overlap.
Think of Athletic Trainers as the ‘point guard’ for your care.
An Athletic Trainer is typically the first healthcare worker to respond to and diagnose acute injuries. You may have seen athletic trainers on the sidelines of collegiate and professional sports teams - like the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball. Athletic Trainers are the one’s who run out onto the field or court to assess an injury and provide care the moment an athlete goes down. Athletic Trainers are also the experts at determining ‘return to play’ guidelines.
Physical Therapists often spearhead the rehabilitation of an injury.
It can be valuable for Physical Therapists to then hand off to an athletic trainer after rehab to take you from functional movement to optimize your speed, strength and agility for sport performance.
Q: Are Athletic Trainers the same as Personal Trainers?
Athletic Trainers are not the same as Personal Trainers.
Athletic Trainers are licensed healthcare professionals who have an undergraduate or graduate degree in athletic training and have sat for a licensing exam to obtain medical credentials.
Personal trainers are not licensed heatlhcare professionals with medical credentials.
Q: Do I need to have an injury to come to Prime?
You don’t need to have an injury to come to Prime. Injury recovery is only a portion of how we can help you.
Prime specializes in sports medicine which also includes injury prevention.
Athletic Trainers are trained to identify movement dysfunctions and imbalances that may lead to future injury.
A typical Athletic Training session will include a combination of assessment, hands-ons manual therapy techniques and corrective exercises that can help you improve your performance.
Regular massage can also be beneficial to maintain healthy tissues and prevent a future injury.
And if you do have an injury that’s holding you back, don’t waste time…get to Prime.
