Race Directors

Prime is dedicated to community and collaboration. Our goal is to bring people, resources and local businesses together. Having two race directors inside Prime benefits everyone. It’s a great opportunity for our team to connect and strategize with these RD’s who put on quality experiences for their racers and participants. Plus - we get to see all the behind-the-scenes hard work they put in before race day ever happens!

Our team is committed to supporting local races - in both big and small ways. We host packet pickups at Prime, provide finish line support and special rates on post-race recovery services. If you’re a race director looking to up your game to support your athletes at a higher level, reach out and let us know. We want to help keep your racers healthy and help them recover faster after your event.

Gretchen Walla

Walla Trails & Community

With several ultramarathons under my belt (buckles) and lots of experience working for other trail running companies like Rainshadow Running and Northwest Trail Runs, I made the leap to start my own company in fall of 2019. Combining my 17 years of non-profit work with my passion for the trails, Walla Trails & Community has a focus on creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe; having a giving component to each event; and an incentive for those who are competitive. 2020 was slated to be Walla Trails & Community’s first official year for events but turned into a year of building community with runners and partners (like Prime Sports Institute!). Walla Trails & Community held 3 of 4 events in 2021 while also supporting several local ultra running races so I am hopeful with what the future holds - stay tuned!

Krissy Moehl

Race Director Chuckanut 50k

Runner Girl Races, LLC has produced the Chuckanut 50k for 20 years. Chuckanut 50k was RD Krissy Moehl's first ultra in 2000 and when the founders resigned after 10 years she took the reins in 2003. This event is a passion project and is endeared to the Bellingham running community; we have dedicated volunteers and staff, a strong field of runners and amazing spectator support every year. Registration opens the first Friday in December, 8am PST on Pacific MultiSports, another local Bellingham company, and fills to capacity before the weekend is over. The race is always the 3rd weekend in March and we invite everyone to join this long standing community event that starts and finishes at Fairhaven Park. If you would like to learn more about this event, please see the official race website.
