Athletic Trainers evaluate your injury, provide treatment and prescribe exercises to help you prevent injuries.

Athletic Trainers are Sports Medicine Specialists.

Think of an Athletic Trainer as a point guard for your healthcare. We diagnose injuries, uncover imbalances to prevent injuries, prescribe exercises, and provide treatment. Athletic Trainers collaborate on your behalf with the other members of your Prime healthcare team.

When you schedule a session with an athletic trainer expect to come away with a plan of what to do next…whether that’s continuing to progress your exercises or transitioning to Physical Therapy, Massage, Strength Training or another healthcare professional.

Referrals

Please have a referral from another licensed health care provider (Physician, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, Naturopath, etc).

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN ATHLETIC TRAINING SESSION

  • If you’re a new client, we recommend you schedule an initial 90-minute session that will include a comprehensive evaluation, treatment and a plan to move forward with exercises specific to you.

  • Don’t waste time, get to Prime to get a new injury evaluated. Especially if you have a soft tissue injury - like a sprain or strain. Go to the ER for obvious fractures, lacerations or dislocations. If you don’t see immediate availability give us a call at 360-922-3120.

  • If you are an established client at Prime, come back in to move to the next level. We’ll re-assess your progress, provide manual therapy treatment and give you a new plan with an updated exercise program.

  • Your appointment may include treatment such as soft tissue work, cupping, Graston, manual therapy, assisted stretching, or specialty taping.

  • We help you achieve your goals by coming up with a plan, providing specific steps to take, & empowering you with the most essential tools you need to get and stay healthy.

  • You can expect to come away with an emailed plan with videos as a reference to remember how to perform each exercise properly.

You will also be able to track your progress and set alerts to remind you to do your exercises each week.

  • Come in for a quick tune-up which can make all the difference in your progress. There's a lot we can accomplish in 30 minutes to help you feel better and get clear on the very next step(s) to take.

I believe the best care comes from being hands on when possible, using manual therapy techniques and encouraging my patients to maintain their body to stay in optimal shape, producing the best results in competition.

This preventive philosophy decreases, or eliminates, the majority of conditions by recognizing and treating minor issues before they progress into something much worse. This emphasis on properly maintaining the body and taking preventive measures also closely parallels a primary focus here at Prime Sports Institute.
