Prime is one of the first athletic trainer-owned clinics in the country. An athletic trainer is a certified and licensed health care professional who provides injury prevention services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Getting you back in the game. Whatever the game may be. Using functional exercises, stretching and movement to help you achieve your goals. The Athletic Trainers at Prime help Bellingham athletes and active people maintain healthy, active lifestyles.
AT's can tie in with any of the healthcare professionals you see including physicians, physical therapists, surgeons, registered dietitians, mental health providers, and many other specialists.
Athletic Trainers can help you be more proactive and less reactive with your healthcare. My name is Matthew Pettersen, I recently have moved to Bellingham and have been hired on the Prime Sports Institute team as an Athletic Trainer. I have my certification for Athletic Training and my license to practice within Washington State.
During an athletic training session, you can expect to work on functional exercises and stretches that are individualized to your needs.
You can expect to come away with an emailed plan with videos as a reference to remember how to perform each exercise properly.
Our goal is to help educate you with the specific steps to take and empower you with the most essential tools you need to get and stay healthy.
Be sure to select an appointment time that allows us to meet your goals for each session. If you aren't quite sure which length of appointment to choose give us a call or send us an email so our team can make the best recommendation possible.
Your athletic training appointment may also include treatment such as soft tissue work, cupping, Graston, manual therapy, assisted stretching, or specialty taping.
Even if you only have 30 minutes, there's a lot we can accomplish to help you feel better and get clear on the very next step(s) to take.
Please have a referral from another licensed health care provider (Physician, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, Naturopath, etc).
If you're a new client, we recommend you schedule an initial 60-minute session that will include an evaluation using orthopedic and musculoskeletal tests.
