LAURA JOHNSON
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

I believe there is not a one-size fits all approach to nutrition. We all live different lifestyles and have our own unique goals. By learning about you as an individual, we can work together to create a personalized nutrition plan that works for you and your lifestyle. This creates a sustainable plan because you are ultimately the one who creates the foundation that you are able to follow - I am here to provide the knowledge and guidance.

Hi, I’m Laura. I've spent most of my life in Colorado Springs, CO. My education and lifestyle pursuits have also taken me to live in Kansas, Montana, and now, beautiful Bellingham. I moved to Bellingham in 2018 to be dietitian for Western Washington University.

I provide nutrition counseling services, including nutrition for sports and performance with SKYE Nutrition at Prime Sports Institute.

Certifications & Qualifications:

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and licensed to practice in the state of Washington. During my training and studies, I made it a priority to be involved in a variety of nutrition settings to become a well-rounded dietitian. Some examples of my work include hospitals, collegiate sports, food banks, outpatient counseling, teaching community classes, long term care, and more. I was a collegiate tennis player at the Division 2 level and taught tennis for six years. Personal experience in all of these realms and the drive to be my best helps me relate to clients and help them do the same.

Philosophy:

I believe there is not a one-size fits all approach to nutrition. We all live different lifestyles and have our own unique goals. By learning about you as an individual, we can work together to create a personalized nutrition plan that works for you and your lifestyle. This creates a sustainable plan because you are ultimately the one who creates the foundation that you are able to follow - I am here to provide the knowledge and guidance.

Why I love what I do:

I love to help people. Whether it's reaching a new level or overcoming a barrier, I love when my clients have an "ah-ha" moment. This feeling brings a new confidence and happiness to people. As a provider, these are the moments that truly make me love my job.

Why Prime?

I greatly value the multidisciplinary approach through the team aspect of Prime. The combination of skill sets at Prime delivers well-rounded care to clients. Each team member is knowledgeable, motivated to help clients, and passionate about what they do at Prime, which creates a consistently positive environment.

Fun Facts:

I am up to try any active outdoor activity. My favorites include hiking big mountains, biking and horseback riding. I've been getting into snowboarding, snowshoeing, paddleboarding, and rock climbing. I greatly value quality time with my family and friends no matter the activity. And of course, I really enjoy good food!
